Sunday, January 24, 2016, 7:09 PM - A powerful, fatal nor'easter slammed the U.S. Northeast impacted 85 million people, leaving a trail of messy weather in its wake.

Among the eleven states that declared states of emergency was New York, which saw waist-high snowbanks, travel bans, and a record-breaking 70 cm of snow at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Manhattan's Central Park accumulated 64 cm of snow -- the third-largest snowfall in its recorded history, dating back to 1869.
