Brief: Warm summer Monday for most, B.C. cleans up

Monday, August 31, 2015, 8:24 AM - The final day of meteorological summer will end on a warm note for most parts of the country, with some expecting summer-like weather to continue for the week ahead.

Atlantic Canada- Maritimes: Monday starts the week on a warm note for most of Atlantic Canada before a dip in temperatures Tuesday. The rest of the week will warm back up. The northern Maritimes can expect a chance for scattered showers with a slight thunderstorm risk late-day Monday through the Gaspé Peninsula.
- Newfoundland: A system blowing in Monday overnight for western parts of the province will effect the Avalon Tuesday, bringing a chance of thunderstorms Monday overnight. Temperatures will be above seasonal Monday, cooling down in the days ahead.
Ontario & Quebec
- Ontario & Quebec: Summer-like temperatures continue Monday through Ontario and Quebec, ending August with warm temperatures through the first week of September. Parts of both provinces will see a chance for showers as a weak trough passes through mid-week.
Western Canada
- Prairies: As isolated smoke dissipates across the Prairies, strong, down-sloping winds develop in extreme southwestern Alberta. Cooling is forecast in the days ahead for Alberta.
- B.C.: Monday will torrential rains to the south coast Monday, on-and-off showers until Thursday, when high pressure begins to set in.
