WINTER UPDATE: Will winter attempt to make for lost time during the final month, or will mild weather return for the second half of February. Read our release for the remainder of winter.

Atlantic Canada

  • Maritimes: Two low pressure systems target the region for the beginning of the week. "The first low will rapidly intensify through Sunday night off the southeast coast of the US, before arriving through the morning hours Monday for the southern Maritimes," said The Weather Network meteorologist Erin Wenckstern. "A second low will quickly form in its wake, adding insult to injury, but is forecast to be weaker than the opening act." That system pushes in Tuesday with the potential for some places to see over 40 cm of snow through Wednesday.
  • Newfoundland: The first low is set to bring heavy snow and strong winds, as well as a transition to freezing rain and rain for southeastern Newfoundland Tuesday.

Ontario and Quebec

  • Ontario: Clipper tracking through southern Ontario expected to bring mixed bag of precipitation Monday with the Greater Toronto Area in line for some flurries. Lake-effect snow picks up late Wednesday southeast of the Great Lakes, continuing through the rest of the week. The coldest air of the season so far dips down from the north Thursday, lasting through the weekend.
  • Quebec: Mainly cloudy skies. Gusty winds causing temperatures to feel 10 degrees below seasonal for most. Light snow moves into the Eastern Townships late Monday into Tuesday.

Western Canada

  • Prairies: Strong winds continue in southern Manitoba with gusts up to 50 km/h Monday morning. Temperatures feeling closer to minus 30C for some. A weak disturbance brings mixed precipitation and snow through northern and central Alberta to southern Saskatchewan. Ridge brings warm temperatures to western Prairies, while eastern parts deal with cooler conditions.
  • British Columbia: System continues to bring moisture to central and northern British Columbia with snow in higher elevations and rain along the coast. Monday kicks off with valley fog. Warmer temperatures with dry conditions ahead for Family Day in southern B.C.
