Friday, November 27, 2015, 7:10 AM - High pressure dominates across western Canada where temperatures gradually warm through the day. Sharp cold front quickly drops temperatures in Ontario and east with the risk of rain, snow and a flash freeze. Here's your Friday weather brief.

Atlantic Canada

  • Maritimes: Another mild day in store for the Maritimes with daytime highs in the low teens expected. Rain affecting the northern sections of the Atlantic provinces will continue to track further south. "The sharp arctic front will bring generally less than 5 cm of snow for New Brunswick starting this evening and through the overnight," says Weather Network meteorologist Erin Wenckstern. "There's a chance for mixed precipitation early Saturday morning for Nova Scotia." Cool air settles in for the weekend.
  • Newfoundland: A frontal boundary will mainly affect the northern sections of the Atlantic provinces Friday, across the Gaspe and southern Labrador and into western Newfoundland. Rain forecast for the region before changing to snow with 10-20 cm possible.

Ontario & Quebec

  • Ontario: Freezing rain and snowfall warnings issued for northern and central Ontario as a sharp arctic front slides to the southeast. Southern Ontario remains mild before a quick temperature drop through the afternoon and evening hours. The plunge in temperatures and rain forecast could result in icy conditions. More details here.
  • Quebec: Similar timing to southern Ontario, southern Quebec will see rain move in through the morning hours and continue throughout the day, changing over to a quick shot of shot from Ottawa to the eastern townships. "Chance for slick roads in the overnight as cool air filters in for the weekend," Wenckstern says.

Western Canada

  • Prairies: Cold start to the day for Saskatchewan and Manitoba with the coolest air situated over southern Manitoba (-20 degrees). Gradual warm up for most of Alberta and Saskatchewan Friday with high pressure in place for the remainder of the weekend. "Above seasonal air will filter across the Prairies for the next few days where temperatures will be near or above freezing," says Wenckstern.
  • British Columbia: Quiet and cool air continues throughout the weekend with a gradual warming trend expected. Wet weather returns early next week.
