NASA joins California in fight against drought

NASA is partnering with California to help the state better monitor and respond to severe drought.
This year is shaping up to be one of its driest on record.

NASA will lend its remote sensing resources to help California water managers get better forecasts and information on drought conditions.

RELIEF ON THE WAY?
Residents in northern California are sandbagging in anticipation of the first significant rainfall in months.
While the storm promises much needed rain, it also brings the threat of flooding and mudslides.
The storm pushing in on Thursday could bring 50 mm of rain in the central and southern valleys, 50-100 mm in the foothills and up to 150 mm in some mountain spots.
