Ontario photographer uses camera tricks, LED lights to capture movement

Ontario-based photographer Stephen Orlando is showcasing movement in a brilliant new way with the help of LED light sticks and long-exposure photography.

He attaches the coloured lights to canoe and kayak paddles, people, and racquets -- among other things -- to create stunning photographs. When set to an exposure of 20 to 30 seconds, the 'subject' of the photo becomes invisible, leaving only a trail of light behind.

"This technique reveals beautiful light trails created by paths of familiar objects," Orlando says on his website.

"These light trails have not been artificially created with Photoshop and represent the actual paths of the objects."
