The high heat and intense humidity were also key ingredients in the formation of severe thunderstorms across both provinces, and on Monday, a widespread severe thunderstorm threat lingers over southern Quebec.
"This storm threat brings with it the usual risk of heavy rain, small-moderate sized hail and strong wind gusts," says Weather Network meteorologist Matt Grinter.
While the risk is low, there's also the chance for an isolated tornado with the development of these storms.

"The storms will start out as discrete supercells to start off before merging into a line later on, " Grinter says. "With the discrete supercells, this poses the risk of an isolated tornado."
Temperatures and humidity will remain high on Monday before the cold front passes and moderates temperatures into Tuesday, Grinter adds.
