'It's only getting warmer:' Impressive weekend warm-up spans the Prairies
With the frigid -- and inhumane -- low temperatures of February now well behind us, the first few days of March are so far delivering on a promise of a dramatic change in terms of the feels-like factor on the Prairies.

Daytime highs have been on the up-and-up heaving into the second half of the week, with Friday looking lovely, thanks to a ridge building in over the region will bring a period of very mild, and even mid spring-like temperatures through Sunday, with parts of the south expected to climb well into the double-digits.
"The pattern change will see the airmass coming in from the Pacific versus the arctic, which means much warmer temperatures are expected across much of the region," says Weather Network meteorologist Matt Grinter. "Although not every area will be exceptionally 'warm,' most days will be above seasonal as we head into the next week and even beyond."
Weekend daytime highs will be more typical of what you'd see in April and May, with forecasters closely eyeing an "overachieve potential," which may see parts of the south possibly nearing the 20°C mark.
PACK AWAY THE PARKAS, SPRING HAS SPRUNG?
Despite the cozy weekend warmth that will leave many questioning if we've officially closed the book on winter, a cooler pattern is expected to gradually develop later next week, slowly spreading eastwards as the days wear on.
Most Prairie residents also know all too well, that high impact winter weather should be expected on occasion throughout the spring season.
Regardless of the struggles expected through the heart of spring, however, this warmer pattern to kick off March will be a welcome contrast to the frigid and record-setting February. Especially when daytime highs for the next little while will be sitting about 10 to 15 degrees warmer than average for this time of year.
