August, 21, 2011 - Deadly Goderich, Ontario Tornado
On Aug. 21, 2011, a deadly F3 tornado struck the community of Goderich, Ont. Beginning as a waterspout over Lake Huron, it moved across the harbour area from the west, trekking up the lake bank before coming onshore in an east-southeast direction as it swept through the town.
The twister lasted for about 15 minutes, with a total track of 20 kilometres and winds reaching up to 300 km/h. One person was killed and 37 others were injured.

The tornado was at its largest and most intense as it slammed into the Goderich's downtown hub. Every building around its perimeter, as well as the courthouse, was either severely damaged or destroyed.

In total, 54 buildings were demolished and almost 300 more needed to be repaired, with damages reaching $130 million.
