Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flooddeaths occur in vehicles.Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize thedangers of flooding.Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can becomeunstable and unsafe.

Description

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.* WHERE...A portion of Panhandle Florida, including the followingcounties, Holmes and Walton.* WHEN...Until 615 AM CDT.* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. Water over roadways.Overflowing poor drainage areas. River or stream flows areelevated.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- At 409 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due tothunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to beginshortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches ofrain have fallen.- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expectedover the area. This additional rain will result in minorflooding.- Some locations that will experience flooding include...De Funiak Springs, Union, Prosperity, Hickory Hill, BakerSettlement, Cerrogordo, Arrant Settlement, Barker Store,Gritney, Izagora, New Hope, Pleasant Hill, Argyle, CenterRidge, Bethlehem and Miller Crossroads.- http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
