A Weather Network viewer recently uploaded a video of a man bravely taking on a phenomenon known as a tidal bore.

Shot on a river in Moncton, N.B. on August 5, the video shows a man steadily riding along with a large wave beneath a sky dotted with clouds.

So, you may be wondering what a tidal bore is.

According to the Bay of Fundy website, this particular wave is a tidal phenomenon in which the leading edge of the incoming tide forms a standing wave of water that travels upstream, against the current of a river or narrow bay. Tidal bores occur twice a day during the flood tide and never during an ebb tide.
