The scorching valley is 7,800 square kilometres in size with challenging heat and elevation changes, but that didn't stop Canadian explorer and ultra-long distance runner Ray Zahab from traversing across the desert in a 48-hour trek on July 7.
Jaclyn Whittal, a meteorologist at The Weather Network, caught up with him before and after his daunting expedition.
