Think twice if you're still debating on whether to use winter tires
A 2021 study from the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada (TRAC) found 79 per cent of those who do use winter tires say it prevented a loss of control on the roads or a collision.
Winter may be more than a month away still, but that doesn't mean the snowfall and cold temperatures are going to wait until then (and it hasn't in parts of the country).
Because of that, the push to get winter tires put on is real for Royal Automotive, says owner Moh Alkayale. The dash to get them installed before the weather takes a turn for the worse has meant late nights.
"Everyone's trying to get their tires on before the first snowfall, so it's a matter of catching up to the race. We worked last night until like 9 at night just trying to catch up," said Alkayale.
According to a 2021 study from the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada (TRAC), winter tire use is on the rise. The study found that 79 per cent of those who do use winter tires say it prevented a loss of control on the roads or a collision.
It also indicated that among those who don't use winter tires, 59 per cent believe all-season tires are sufficient.
