Protect your head: Dive-bombing birds are back

They're back.

It's like a scene out of a Hitchcock film: red-winged blackbirds are back, and they're dive-bombing unsuspecting pedestrians.

While they aren't likely to hurt you, male birds will show you who's boss if you unwittingly wander into their territory.

But before you get mad at these bully birds, keep in mind: they're just being good parents, peak nesting season for red-winged blackbirds is May through July, and they nest close to the ground - making them more vulnerable to predators.
