It's one of those side effects of the spring melt that nobody likes to talk about, much less deal with.
Your dog hasn't been idle through the winter, and when the snow goes away, it leaves behind weeks or months worth of dog poop.
Aside from being a smelly mess, it's also an environmental hazard. Far from being good fertilizer, it can burn your lawn, doesn't break down too well, and can be toxic, necessitating the use of biodegradable bags.
And if it is just left to break down, bacteria from the runoff can contaminate nearby waterways, and attract unwanted insects.
