These trails have the most search and rescue calls in B.C., how to stay safe
If you're planning a hiking adventure in the province of British Columbia, make sure you are prepared for everything that might come your way. The most common reasons search and rescue crews are called can be preventable. The Weather Network's Mia Gordon has more.
Each year, British Columbia's search and rescue team receives over 1500 calls, and about one-third of those are from hikers in trouble.
Most of the rescues happen on B.C.'s South Coast because of the population size (more than 2.5 million people live in this region) and accessibility (most of the top hikes are right off the highway).
