Scientists find strange orb in the ocean—hear their speculations

"Pretty sure this is how the first episode of the X-Files started," said one expert upon discovering the object.

Scientists recently discovered a strange, yet-to-be-identified golden orb in the Pacific Ocean.

It happened during a routine deep-sea exploration mission on August 30. Using remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), scientists were mapping the Pacific Ocean when they happened upon the smooth, soft object clinging to a rock about 3 km beneath the surface.

Some speculations are that it could be an egg casing, coral, or encrusting sponges.

But the scientists that happened upon it veered toward the paranormal with their predictions. Watch the video above to get the full, fantastic audio.
