Isaias remnants bring rains, gusty winds to parts of Eastern Canada
As Isaias continues to weaken, now a post-tropical cyclone, it will still impact parts of Eastern Canada with heavy rain and gusty winds.
Rain showers and the risk for thunderstorms will continue for southern regions of Quebec towards the mouth of the St. Lawrence River into Thursday morning. Rain and thunderstorms will progress into Labrador for Thursday.
The remnants already brought some substantial rainfall totals to Quebec, with Charlevoix (Massif) receiving 124.7 mm and 90.2 mm falling in Trois-Rivières on Tuesday. Downtown Montreal received 45.0 mm.
As well, the storm knocked out power to thousands of Quebecers on Tuesday night. As of Wednesday morning, about 46,000 Hydro-Québec customers were still in the dark, mostly in the Quebec City region.
Isaias made landfall in the U.S. Mid-Atlantic states, bringing copious rainfall and tornadoes to coast, killing at least four.
While early models raised some possibility of a more eastward track of the storm that would have had more of an impact on New Brunswick, and there is still a tropical cyclone statement for the province, it now looks to mostly escape the worst of the effects.
The storm is weakening as it continues to track through Canada and it will merge with a low pressure system and then pass east into Labrador.
