Nothing is more important to farmers than soil health, especially during periods of drought. So, one landscaper in Halifax, N.S., is applying that philosophy to your lawn.

Lawn Mechanic is incorporating specific strains of bacteria to lawns in order to supply nitrogen, reduce thatch, unlock minerals and induce microbial life in the soil. According to founder John Moakes, this program is the first of its kind in North America.

The idea behind it is to stimulate life in the soil in a more natural way, avoiding the use of nitrogen fertilizers in the process.
