At least 22 injured following lightning strike in Czech Republic

All of the patients are expected to make a full recovery.

At least 22 people were taken to the hospital in Liberec, Czech Republic, Sunday after lightning hit a tree.

All of the patients, which included at least nine children, are in stable condition and many have already been discharged from the hospital, according to CT24.

One woman was sent to the ICU suffering from minor burns and trouble moving her limbs, but a spokesperson told CT24 her condition is improving.

All of the patients are expected to make a full recovery.

The injured had been hiding under a tree at a public park when the accident occurred. They were attending an international Children's Day event.

Each year, lightning kills two to three people in Canada and injures approximately 180 others, according to the Government of Canada.

If caught outside, far from a safe shelter, try to crouch in a low-lying area, away from tall objects.

Even in a safe location, remain in place for 30 minutes after the last rumble of thunder.
