A hot air balloon crashed next to a motorway in Rochester, Minnesota, on Wednesday (March 20).

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, three people were aboard the balloon when it crashed. Two of them suffered minor injuries.

The balloon was attempting to land in a field when strong winds pushed it into a power line, according to preliminary information released by the Rochester Police Department.

The basket separated from the balloon, causing it to fall 20-30 feet (6-9 m) to the ground. The balloon floated approximately a mile east of the scene, where it landed in a field.

A section of ditch was on fire and was quickly extinguished by Rochester Fire Department crews.
