Tornadoes, flash flooding pummel U.S. Southern Plains
The U.S. severe weather outbreak will stretch into its fifth day on Tuesday.
At least 19 tornadoes were reported for the fourth day in a row across the southern Plains on Monday as a major severe weather outbreak continues. Particularly dangerous tornadoes and massive hail were anticipated on Monday -- forecast to be the peak of the outbreak -- though the risk persists into Tuesday for some.
Several injuries have been reported with storms through the weekend, which has seen dozens of tornadoes spread across the southern Plains and parts of the Midwest. Multiple homes and other structures have been reported destroyed as well. In Hominy, Oklahoma, several people had to be rescued from rising waters after torrential rains caused flash flooding.

TUESDAY
Tuesday wraps up this outbreak of strong storms as a shift in the jet stream will weaken support for potent thunderstorms. But before the setup changes completely, one more day of strong storms is likely, again shifting slightly to the east into the Ozarks and Lower- and Mid-Mississippi Valley.
With the upper-level support easing, tornado-spawning storms are less likely on Tuesday, but strong wind gusts and hail are still likely across the highlighted region. Parts of Oklahoma and Texas are also under a flash-flood warning as they continue to clean up from Monday's twisters that tore down trees and damaged homes.
Roads werre closed and traffic brought to a standtill in low-lying areas around Oklahoma City early Tuesday. Many motorists had to be rescued as their vehicles became trapped by rising water.
MULTIPLE INJURIES AND DAMAGE REPORTED THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND
Saturday and Monday were particularly violent severe weather days, with nearly three dozen tornado reports and almost 200 extreme wind events. Hail up to softball size also pelted down on parts of Texas Monday afternoon.
At least one person was injured in the Texas community of Runnels when a tornado demolished a house. Numerous other homes were damaged or destroyed, and several other injuries were reported in the community of Coal, Oklahoma. No fatalities have been reported.
