Two flight attendants needed treatment Friday morning after Porter Airlines Flight 720 hit severe turbulence as it headed for Billy Bishop Airport.

Both flight attendants were transported to hospital for treatment of what paramedics reported to CP24 as "minor turbulence-related injuries".

A passenger was also treated on-scene for a minor scrape sustained during the rough air.

The flight encountered the turbulence as it approached the Toronto Island-based airport around 11 a.m. Friday morning.

The airport observation from 11 a.m. reported clear skies and 24oC, with winds that had increased in the past hour. The morning's observations saw fairly consistent winds from the southwest of around 7 km/h. The 11 a.m. observation reported winds had picked up to 22 km/h with gusts to 31 km/h in advance of the cold front that brought showers and cloudy skies to the city for the afternoon hours.

Speaking to CP24, a spokesperson for the Transportation Safety Board said they had secured the black box from the plane, and were waiting for more information before deciding whether or not a full investigation would be conducted.

61 people were aboard the Washington, D.C. to Toronto flight in total. The airline makes multiple daily trips along the Dulles-to-Billy Bishop route.
