Friday, October 2, 2015, 1:36 PM - Hurricane Joaquin remains stalled over Bahamas for the second day after unleashing violent winds and heavy rain on central portions of the country.

The Category 4 storm is expected to track northward Friday evening, with all eyes on the east coast of the United States.

While the latest models show Joaquin trending further away from the coast, some still indicate the storm will make a U.S. landfall. Heavy rain and potential flooding remains a concern for many states. Flash flood watches and warnings have been issued from Maryland to Georgia. Several areas have declared a state of emergency.

As Joaquin travels further north, there are two possible scenarios. One model shows the storm moving into the Carolinas, while the other shows Joaquin staying far offshore from Atlantic Canada, the Canadian Hurricane Centre reports.

The effects of Joaquin could lead to rainfall in southern Ontario, Quebec and the east coast into next week.

Here are 5 different animations that show Joaquin's intensity.
