Saturday, August 1, 2015, 6:35 PM - One former street dog is making waves with a U.S. Coast Guard chief.

Anthony Kaminski recently recruited his two-year-old terrier mix, Barnacle, to become an official member of the U.S. Coast Guard in Milwaukee, WI.

Barnacle’s life wasn’t always a breeze.

Kaminski was stationed in south Florida when his wife found the pup wandering around in a grocery store parking lot last summer.

The family looked for Barnacle’s owners for six weeks, to no avail.

”He was a good dog right from the beginning,” Kaminski told CNN. “. He's quiet, meshed well with the family.

The Kaminski family adopted Barnacle before Kaminski was relocated to Milwaukee, where the Coast Guard asked to make Barnacle the station’s official mascot, CNN reports.

Barnacle now lives at the coast guard station where he spends his days playing fetch in the hallways.

”From the first day he arrived at the station he was just right at home and just loved everybody,” Coast Guard chief Eric Hopperdietzel told CNN.

Kaminski says Barnacle will be getting his own vest with his name on it.

”They love him and he loves them too, I think so,” Kaminski said.
