After the weekend storm, brace for the next one

Although people in Atlantic Canada will still be feeling it, the low that brought February's first snows to southern Ontario is mostly done with the province, aside from a few lingering flurries in eastern Ontario.

But the snow came down quite heavily in parts of the province Saturday afternoon and Saturday night, With areas around Lake Ontario seeing a brief period of rain, while the Niagara region saw several hours of rain.

Those areas that did see snow, didn't suffer quite as much as in previous storms, and although some communities saw some freezing rain, this winter event was not remotely as bad as the ice storm of December.

Totals reached 15 cm and more in the worst hit areas.

Even though the amounts were less than in past storms, they still made life tough for winter-weary commuters across the Greater Toronto Area and other cities.

Round two arrives Tuesday

But weatherwise, it was just first of three lows that are targeting eastern Canada.

Meteorologists at The Weather Network are nailing down the details, but they all agree: A new storm is coming Tuesday into Wednesday, and it could also be stiff when it hits southern Ontario.
