Tuesday, June 2, 2015, 6:08 PM - Wild animals are taking over Toronto -- from a rogue peacock that has evaded captors since escaping from a Toronto zoo Friday, to a bear that was found in a Newmarket, Ont. backyard Monday.
On Tuesday, two more wild animals were spotted roaming Toronto-area suburbs.
Police in Whitby received a call just after 8 a.m. about a deer that had found its way into a backyard.
When animal control arrived the deer was startled and jumped over a fence, landing in a neighbouring pool.
Officials were able to tranquilize the deer, using a pool skimmer to keep it in the shallow end while the drug kicked in.
Animal control officers then drove the deer north and released it back into the wild.

On Tuesday afternoon, Toronto reporter Lexi Dogon tweeted a photo of a coyote standing on the side of the 401 highway at Allen Road.
While coyotes aren't uncommon in the city, they typically remain out of sight and are usually most active during the dusk and dawn.
