Another round of thunderstorms and heavy rain possible in southern Ontario Wednesday

Wednesday, May 14, 2014, 7:07 AM - Another round of severe thunderstorms pushed through southern Ontario Tuesday night.
Widespread severe thunderstorm watches and warnings were issued as well as a tornado warning for areas including Hanover, Dundalk and southern Grey County. Just 10 minutes later, Mount Forest, Arthur and northern Wellington County were added to the warning.
"Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches," Environment Canada warned in the statement. "One or more weak tornadoes may be occurring in the area. They sometimes appear as funnel clouds with swirling debris near the ground."
At least one land spout was reported, but the warnings were dropped shortly after and no serious damage or injuries were reported.

Tuesday's tornado warning was the first issued for the season. It followed Monday's first tornado watch of the season that was issued in and around Windsor.

The thunderstorm risk will continue once again on Wednesday with non-severe storms expected across southern Ontario and Quebec.
Some areas could also see upwards of 30 mm of rain as another low develops on the trailing cold front.
"Another round of moisture will move into southern Ontario and Quebec late Wednesday into Thursday, along a sharp frontal boundary," says Weather Network meteorologist Gina Ressler. "The rain should move east (out of the GTA) by Friday, with cooler but drier conditions on tap for the long weekend."
A daytime high of 13°C is forecast in the city of Toronto on Friday and Saturday.
