Thursday, January 19, 2017, 7:54 PM - B.C.'s deluge is nearing its temporary end, with another, smaller round expected for the weekend.

"Wet conditions are expected to persist through Friday morning with improving conditions late day," says Weather Network meteorologist Kelly Sonnenburg.

Meanwhile, dropping freezing levels brought a dash of snow to the North Shore Mountains, though snowfall warnings in the interior have dropped.

Below is a breakdown of what to expect.

Highlights

  • Additional 15-30 mm Thursday through southern B.C.
  • As of Wednesday afternoon, Squamish had picked up 131 mm, with 95 mm recorded in West Vancouver and 58 mm at Vancouver International Airport.
  • Freezing levels drop to 1,000 m Thursday, with some snow expected. Avalanche risk high at Sea-to-Sky and Whistler, dropping into the weekend.
  • All rainfall and snowfall warnings dropped for the province by Thursday morning
  • Mainly cloudy for Friday, with some sunny breaks expected on Saturday before next system moves in overnight into Sunday.

Forecasters say Friday should be dry, with even a few sunny breaks, but there's more rain on the way, though not on the same level as this week's downpours.

"Rounds of showers Friday overnight into Sunday with amounts around 15-25 cm over the two days," Weather Network meteorologist Matt Grinter said early Thursday.

Weather Network meteorologist Dr. Doug Gillham adds a cooler and drier pattern beckons for the next week, though Arctic air is not expected.
