Camper attacked by bear in northern Ontario park, dog intervenes to save owner

A 42-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being repeatedly attacked by a black bear while camping in a northwestern Ontario provincial park.
Provincial police say the Thunder Bay man was walking his two dogs in Sandbar Provincial Park on Saturday when he was attacked from behind by a mature black bear. Police say the man was able to get away and waited in a lake while the bear walked away.
When the man tried to walk back to his campsite, the bear attacked again, at which point one of the man's dogs tried to fend off the bear.
Police say the man eventually managed to get away and made it to a park ranger station where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries before being taken to a hospital in Dryden, Ontario.
Information on the condition of the man's dogs wasn't immediately available.
Park officials caught the bear in a live trap on Monday.
