Double rainbow appears over Orlando

Wednesday, June 15, 2016, 2:49 PM - There's been a lot of sad news coming out of Orlando, Florida this week, following the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
As the nation -- and the world -- grieves this senseless and tragic loss, a powerful symbol of perseverance has emerged.
On Monday, social media lit up with reports of a double rainbow over the city.
Many are calling the phenomenon a tribute to those impacted by the recent events.

WHAT CAUSES DOUBLE RAINBOWS TO FORM?
Rainbows form when they sun's rays come into contact with rain droplets, which act as prisms that break up the light into a variety of colours.
A double rainbow forms when refracted light is unable to escape from a raindrop, and part of the ray is reflected again, and they're less common than a standard, solitary rainbow.
Rainbows have been considered a symbol of hope for centuries, dating back to Biblical times. Rainbows also serve as the symbol of the LBGTQ community, the primary victims in the recent attack -- making its appearance all the more powerful.
