You spend your whole day, carefully crafting the forecast, only to go on air and be interrupted by a dog, eager to earn its place in the spotlight.
That’s exactly what happened to BBC Weather’s Carol Kirkwood this week. On an outside broadcast live from West Wittering, Connie the black Labrador felt the need to answer the call of nature in front of millions of breakfast viewers.
And Connie isn't the only animal vying for the limelight. For years, weather presenters have had to play second fiddle to attention-grabbing creatures, like cats, for example, as German weather presenter Jörg Kachelmann found out, when Lupin, the ‘Studiokatze’ decided to make a cameo during one of his forecasts…
And Eduardo Rodriguez from Miami’s Univision, also made a feline forecasting friend.
Weatherman Jason Adams in Clio, Michigan, had to duck to avoid an aerial invasion from a bat during one of his weather forecasts…
Another winged assailant tried to steal the limelight from weatherman Steve Jacobs down under. Marnie the pelican at Taronga Zoo in Sydney was not too pleased about sharing her enclosure with a presenter.
Arachnophobes look away now. This giant spider got the better of Canadian meteorologist Kristi Gordon.
And the giant spider sent its little spider friend to bother this weatherman. He handles it well, though, don't you think?
And finally, a word of advice to budding presenters. If you’re being circled by bears, it’s perfectly acceptable NOT to do the forecast. Your viewers can always check it out online!
