Lifeguard drones can reach swimmers a minute faster than human lifeguards

Could lifeguard drones become a safety standard in the future?
This innovative technology started generating buzz in 2013 when creator Amin Rigi of RTS Labs in Iran gave a public demonstration of the product.
It is now being developed at RTS London and the company says it is ready to start mass producing the drones.
According to Popular Science, the drones act as a "mobile lifesaver dispensary", flying out to distressed swimmers and dropping flotation devices that can be used until help arrives. The drones are controlled by a human operator on land.
The quadrotors may also be equipped with navigation software and infrared cameras.
Early tests suggest the drones can reach a swimmer a minute faster than a human lifeguard starting at the same time.
In the future, RTS hopes to create solar floating stations so the robots can recharge offshore and advance the product so it can function without a human operator.
