The rain picks up through the afternoon for the island, with 5 mm or less in the forecast.
Behind this system, cooler air filters in as an upper trough builds in for the weekend. Daytime highs are likely to be two to five degrees below seasonal, with variable skies.
"A weak system riding the jet stream will attempt to bring in a few scattered showers for Atlantic Canada late Saturday into parts of Sunday," says The Weather Network meteorologist Erin Wenckstern.
The wet conditions of the coming weekend buck the milder, warmer trend expected in western and central Canada, according to meteorologist Dr. Doug Gillham.
"A northerly flow on the western side of our departing system for Atlantic Canada will keep temperatures closer to seasonal for early November from southern Quebec through Atlantic Canada," Gillham says.
