Lightning strikes father of the bride DURING his speech

Tuesday, July 11, 2017, 5:25 PM - JP Nadeau of New Brunswick was giving a speech at his daughter's wedding in Lower Woodstock on July 8, 2017, when he literally received the shock of his life. (Video above is a must-watch!)

The father of the bride was facing the guests with the microphone in his hand, unaware of the brewing storm behind him when a bolt of lightning struck.

"They thought I was going to drop dead," Nadeau told CBC. "And just as I told my new son-in-law 'You're a lucky guy' - Boom!"

Nadeau explained to the news agency how his hand lit up.

"I had the microphone and the shock jumped into the sound system and my hand just lit up and I saw the spark," he told CBC.

Fortunately, Nadeau walked away with only a scorch mark on his thumb. As soon as the guests realized the father of the bride was all right, the ceremony continued on.

"It was a beautiful wedding," Nadeau's wife Maggy Thomas told the news agency. "But that was pretty terrifying for a second."

This isn't the New Brunswick resident's first brush with death. Two years ago he was working on a cruise ship near the Falkland Islands when the British Royal Air Force had to rescue him and other passengers after the vessel caught fire, according to CBC.

"But death keeps ignoring me."
