Months of rain in 12 hours. Here's what that looks like

Sunday, October 4, 2015, 11:58 AM - Hurricane Joaquin never made landfall in the United States, but the storm's effects found its way onshore all the same.

Two separate systems joined forces to funnel much of the moisture from the storm toward the continent. Though several mid-Atlantic states have experienced downpours, the deluge was aimed like a fire hose at South Carolina.

At least five people were reported killed, and the hundreds of millimetres of rainfall that has fallen on the state has caused major flooding and property damage.

Here's what the storm looked like on social media.
