NOAA live cam allows for a glimpse into the Gulf of Mexico

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has embarked on a mission aboard its ship the Okeanos Explorer and the whole thing is being live streamed on three different channels.
The three week, deep sea exploration of the Gulf of Mexico is an important one, researchers say.

"The ocean is 95 percent unexplored, unknown, and unseen by human eyes," NOAA writes.
"Resource managers cannot manage what they do not know. To understand, manage, and protect the ocean and its resources, NOAA believes it is critical to support a systematic program of ocean exploration, using the best of ocean technology to explore, discover, inform, educate, and motivate."
So far, they've encountered some pretty neat things:

Over the coming days, the crew plans to inspect more coral, survey a few canyons and stop in on centuries-old ship wrecks.
You'll be treated to a live feed of a remotely-operated vehicle when it performs underwater missions, a glimpse of the Okeanos deck and a behind-the-scenes look at NOAA's command centre -- which bears a strong resemblance to the "control centre" here in The Weather Network newsroom!
