Thursday, November 15, 2018, 6:32 PM - Road conditions quickly deteriorated across Ontario Thursday as the first significant snowfall of the season moved across the region.

Traffic slowed to a halt on all major routes across the GTA, with several accidents being reported by Sgt. Kerry Schmidt from the Ontario Provincial Police, Highway Safety Division.

"Don't be outside of your vehicle assessing damage and exchanging information in a live lane," urged Schmidt in a video posted to Twitter. "Please move your vehicles, if if they're drivable, and get them off the highway into a safe spot, and make your calls to insurance companies and to the police if you need to make a police report. From there you can call 1-888-310-1122, which is our OPP number."

Most places can expect between 5 and 10 cm of snow through Friday, with some areas seeing upwards of 15 centimetres.

Drivers are reminded to leave extra time for the morning commute and to follow these IMPORTANT rules when on the roads
