Spring Outlook 2015: Long-range forecast for the Toronto area and the rest of Ontario

Wednesday, March 4, 2015, 2:53 PM - As anticipated in our Winter Outlook, it took winter a bit longer to set in across Ontario. But once it did settle in, it didn't appear to want to leave.

Arctic air will linger deep into spring, creating the potential for late season snowfalls in parts of the province, according to The Weather Network’s 2015 Spring Outlook for March, April and May.

"Because of that snow on the ground and the ice cover on the lakes, temperatures will generally be below normal," said Chris Scott, chief meteorologist at The Weather Network. "We’re going to have some very cold air at times, but also some influx shots of warmer air. So, a lot of freeze/thaw action. A pretty nasty March shaping up because of that.”

As spring continues through April and May, temperatures are expected to rebound.

"It’s just going to be a slower start to spring than normal," Scott said,"and pretty close to normal precipitation.”
