PHOTOS: U.S. residents make the most of the snow storm

An intense nor'easter is battering the northeastern U.S. and parts of Atlantic Canada -- virtually shutting down some communities. 

Thousands of flights have been cancelled on both sides of the border, power outages have been reported and schools have been shut down.

While some have hunkered down to wait out the storm, others are making the most of the conditions.
