If you're looking to send your deceased pet off in style, you might want to look into Celestis Pets.

The company sends the remains of dead animals into outer space. Packages cost between $995 USD and $12,500 USD.

The concept was developed by Celestis Inc., which has already organized a dozen memorial space flights for humans.

Clients send the company the cremated remains or a lock of their pet's fur, where it is then sealed in an engraved capsule.

There are four packages available:

  • Earth Rise sends the capsule into zero gravity before returning it to the owner.
  • Earth Orbit sends the capsule into space alongside a satellite mission. It then vaporizes in space, resembling a bright star as it re-enters the atmosphere.
  • The Luna mission, which comes in at $12,500, sends the capsule to the moon alongside a space mission, where it is laid to rest.
  • Finally, there's the Voyager package, which releases the capsule into deep space, allowing it to float away.

"For years, Celestis has received inquiries from pet owners around the world seeking the opportunity to honor their special animal companions with a final journey among the stars," the company writes on its website.

Celestis Inc. was founded in 1995.
