Friday, March 27, 2015, 7:02 AM - Southern Albertans are basking in temperatures about ten degrees above seasonal, with daytime highs near +20C expected Friday.

"As the ridge in the jet stream over the west amplifies, warm air will again filter in for Alberta," says Weather Network meteorologist Erin Wenckstern.

On Thursday, temperatures in the region were breaking records. Friday will feel just as warm.

"Expect temperatures to be around 10 degrees above seasonal into Calgary."

A cold front will move through the area Saturday, bringing temperatures down a bit -- but still above seasonal.

"Conditions will rebound Sunday to the mid-teens," Wenckstern says.

The milder air will push east for the weekend for Manitoba, offering some relief to parts of the province that are dealing with below seasonal temperatures

WHAT'S AHEAD?

Mild temperatures could continue to dominate the forecast across the Prairies, according to The Weather Network’s 2015 Spring Outlook for March, April and May.

"The rest of the spring, we think, will trend ... towards normal to above normal for temperatures and near normal for precipitation," says Weather Network chief meteorologist Chris Scott.
