The animal was stuck for more than two months

Volunteers set 'Bucket Bear' free

Tuesday, September 2, 2014, 12:09 PM - It's been a very difficult couple of months for one furry resident of Clarion County, Pennsylvania. But the torment is finally over for the unlucky bear.

The animal was first spotted with a bucket over its head more than two months ago. It had been roaming around the area ever since.

Toward the end of August, the Facebook page "Save The Bucket Bear" popped up and the creator of the page was surprised to hear that many had contacted the Game Commission more than a month ago.

According to the page, officials said they couldn't do anything about the bear unless it was injured or an immediate danger to someone.

Unsatisfied with that answer, a group of volunteers came together to rescue the bear. Dean Hornberger, one of the volunteers, was among the first to encounter the animal and tried to pull off the bucket to no success. Along with Samanthan Eigenbrod, he caught up with the bear near a swamp. At this point, people driving by stopped to help.

The whole rescue operation lasted more than 27 minutes but fortunately ended with the young bear free and happy.
