Tuesday, July 22, 2014, 6:28 PM - Hallie Bibeau, a 33 year-old woman from New Hampshire, has been handed a $100 ticket after stopping in a highway median to help a pair of stranded ducklings.

"I could hear them peeping, and I looked over the right hand side of the road, and I saw that their mom had been hit and was dead on the side, so I couldn't just continue on," she told local media.

Bibeau says several of the ducklings had been hit as well, but two were alive.

She called 911 and got out of her car to capture the two surviving ducklings.

During that time a state trooper ticketed Bibeau for stopping in the median. Police say that portion of the highway is for emergencies and the stranded ducklings didn't qualify.

Bibeau plans to fight the fine. She says that even if she has to pay, she'd do it again in a heartbeat.

The surviving ducklings were taken to a wildlife centre. Only one survived.
