Friday, June 5, 2015, 6:28 AM - Rain moves out of the east this weekend, rosy temperatures are ahead for Ontario and Quebec, while the west prepares to swelter.

Here's your weather brief for Saturday.

Atlantic provinces

  • Maritimes: Front from Ontario and Quebec moved into the northern Maritimes and tracked south overnight, bringing showers Saturday along with emerging moisture from the Gulf of Maine. Heaviest rain stays just off the east coast of Nova Scotia, but any shift may bring heavier downpours inland. Showers depart Saturday night into Sunday morning.
  • Newfoundland: Showers Saturday, departing Saturday night, but may linger in the Avalon Sunday. Rainfall totals range from 10 to 25 millimetres across the island.

Ontario and Quebec

  • Ontario: After an evening of rain and thunderstorms, high pressure follows, bringing a mix of sun and cloud to the region on Saturday. Places along the lake shore, including downtown Toronto, will be cooler than inland locations Saturday.
  • Quebec: Mainly sunny skies for southern Quebec Saturday, with temperatures in the high teens.

Western Canada

  • Prairies: Some thunderstorms may continue Saturday morning through southern and central Saskatchewan. Drier conditions and climbing temperatures ahead for Alberta, with thunderstorm threat in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
  • British Columbia: Temperatures near the mid-30s for some locations Saturday. Showers pick up again for the north coast Saturday. Vancouver has only a 10 per cent possibility of precipitation for the next couple of days.
