Heavy rainfall, strong winds and hail in store for parts of the Prairies

Meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts, quarter to toonie size hail and heavy rainfall across southern and central Saskatchewan and southern Manitoba.
"There is a lot of energy for storms to feed off [early afternoon to early evening Saturday] and we have a cold front sliding through the region," explained Weather Network meteorologist Dayna Vettese. "It looks like we could be seeing some severe thunderstorms, with hail, strong winds and heavy downpours being the main concern."

Environment Canada has issued severe thunderstorm warnings for southern Saskatchewan and southern Manitoba.

Strong storms will continue through the overnight and begin to die off Sunday morning.
In addition, a heat warning is also in effect for parts of southern Manitoba where humidex values will reach 40.
It will only add to the province's current flood crisis. Manitoba declared a province-wide state of emergency this week, with plans to breach a dike on the Assiniboine River to the pressure off other flood prevention networks.
