Ontario: Mother Nature set to cooperate for Father's Day

Father's Day looks more optimistic than Saturday, though still on the cool side

A gloomy Saturday has given way to a better' looking Sunday for Father's Day, with little in the way of showers expected for most people, and with clearer skies. Still, not everyone will be shower free, and it'll be noticeably cooler than what you'd expect for mid-June. WATCH BELOW: SUN BATTLES CLOUD COVER

The system that brought uneven showers to much of southern Ontario Saturday looks to keep south of the Great Lakes on Sunday, which will be welcome news for people hoping Sunday would be kinder to their weekend plans. Lingering showers in the southwest were largely ended by the morning as well, and that should be the last most people will see of them Sunday.

However, though it will definitely be sunnier, it won't be a complete sunshine day, with some lingering clouds here and there (watch the video above for when to expect sunny breaks.

As well, though there'll be more sun, there'll be less warmth than most people like, being somewhat below seasonal.

Beyond, Mother Nature is expected to play ball for the Raptors Championship Parade on Monday, however, bringing relatively sunny skies and temperatures around the 20 degree mark for parade time.

FIRST DAY OF SUMMER APPROACHES, BUT NO SIGN OF SUMMER HEAT

With the first day of summer only a few days away, the Ontario residents might be more than ready to cast off a spring that's been less-than-stellar, but does the arrival of summer mean the arrival of summer-like heat? Not necessarily, says Weather Network meteorologist Dr. Doug Gillham.

"At this point, we do not have any extended periods of hot weather in sight through the end of June," warns Gillham. "However, we will have periods of pleasant weather, with highs mostly in the low to mid-20s, and we are watching the potential for a period of warmer weather -- in the mid to upper 20s -- during the final days of June."

Even slightly below-seasonal temperatures won't feel quite as unwelcome at this point. Average highs for the latter half of June run in the mid-20s, meaning 20-degree days are quite likely even if temperatures run a bit below the norm.
