Sunday, September 13, 2015, 8:34 PM - Increased solar winds brought the greatest light show on earth to many parts of the globe this weekend, including Canada.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Space Weather Prediction Center was on magnetic storm watch, as high speed solar winds emanating from the sun increased the chances of seeing dazzling displays known as the northern lights, beginning Friday and continuing through Saturday night.
Fast-moving particles are responsible for the aurora borealis, which can range from a faint green glow on the northern horizon to a multicolored, full-sky display.
Incredible photos from around the world prove it to be one of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring scenes in nature. Over the weekend, some of our viewers were able to capture images of the most spectacular light show on earth.
