Tuesday, September 6, 2016, 6:55 AM - After killing two people in Florida and South Carolina, Tropical Storm Hermine spent most of the long weekend tracking northward parallel to the U.S. Eastern Seaboard.
Though there was an initial chance that the storm would re-strengthen to hurricane strength, it never quite reached that threshold, and many tropical storm warnings and watches were dropped in the region, though some remained in effect from Long Island to Massachusetts.

Though not expected to reach Atlantic Canada, the Canadian Hurricane Centre had a tropical cyclone statement in effect for much of Nova Scotia over that time, though the storm's effects will be slight.
"Swells of 2 to 3 metres are expected along the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia this morning, but will gradually diminish to one metre later today," the centre's latest statement reads. "There is a risk of local rip currents on beaches along the Atlantic coast during this period. No surge effects expected."
In maritime areas, the winds will continue to weaken and four-metre waves will slowly calm to two metres as the day progresses.
Nova Scotia is in for a cloudy day, with scattered rain.
