Women find python in the trunk of their rental car

Thursday, September 25, 2014, 5:15 PM - Police in Maine say that two women have found a bull python in the trunk of their rental car.

The women drove the car from Boston to Maine, and discovered the intruder Wednesday night.

The snake has been transferred to a nearby wildlife centre.

Bull pythons -- which can grow up to 1.5 metres in length -- are generally harmless.

Authorities aren't sure how the snake wound up in the trunk of the car.

The police officer that attended to the women's distress call told reporters they requested a new rental car even after the snake had been removed.
